South Africa will ready to host the 2nd edition of the Champions League T20 tournament in September. Cricket South Africa(CSA) has announced that twelve teams from seven countries will play in the event from September 10 to 26.The first season of this champions league was held at India in which New South Wales beat Trinidad and Tobago in the final match of the league. The tournament held in India included 12 teams across the world including three top teams from the Indian Premier League.
The competition will take place across three venues, two of which will be the home grounds of the Standard Bank Pro20 finalists this year.
"This is a prestigious tournament involving seven of the world's top cricket nations. It will be another feather in South Africa's cap as a host of world-class sports events and will not clash in any way with the FIFA World Cup 2010," CSA President Dr Mtutuzeli Nyoka said.
The Champions League Twenty20 is run by the boards of India, Australia and South Africa and its governing council comprises representatives from each board. Other countries participate in the tournament by invitation.
In spite of this, Champions League Twenty20 chairman Lalit Modi says no definite decision has been taken on where this year's event will take place.The dates are confirmed but not the location. CSA have accepted the invitation for hosting but the board haven't decided about the location.
